What is Microblading?

The Basics of Phibrows Microblading

Eyebrows are the frame of the face and when created correctly in line with your features, bone structure and face shape can really emphasise your eyes; giving your face an instant lift. Microblading is a type of eyebrow architecture, achieved by a manual hand held tool and it is a skill of the best and latest technique in eyebrow semi-permanent tattooing.

PhiBrows microblading creates extremely fine natural looking hair strokes mimicking the natural direction and lengths of your brows.

The process may be used to improve or create eyebrow definition, to cover gaps of lost hair, to extend the eyebrows, or may be used as a full reconstruction if the brows have little or no hair.

There are many benefits of microblading;

  • Anti-ageing – eyebrows can emphasise your eyes giving you an instant lift; a younger look
  • No smudged eyebrows – always looking perfect on the beach, while exercising, all day…
  • Achieve the brow shape you have always wanted
  • Regain the look of fuller brows due to loss of hair or over plucking
  • Saving time on application of brow make up
  • Money spend saving on beauty & makeup products

The procedure consists of 3 important stages: the initial consultation, which includes a patch test, the treatment and then the top up. The top up is recommended at 4 to 6 from the treatment date.

On the day of your procedure your brows will be designed using a cosmetic pencil, according to the golden intersection (phi 1.618) and face morphology then finally determined digitally. You will then be able to see your brow shape before any work starts, once the shape is agreed the process will then start; lasting anywhere up to an hour.

Every treatment is performed with disposable sterile tools, and the pigments used are produced to

the highest medical standards (Phibrows SUPER microblading pigments).

Strokes are always drawn in the direction of the natural hair growth to achieve the most natural look. The process is very precise thanks to the tool that is used which has a row of 10-12 micro-needles at the end needles that don’t penetrate the skin but just delicately scratch the surface, much like a paper cut

Clients are welcome to bring in images of the style of brow they like, or come in with the brow make up they normally wear on a day to day basis – but I’ll determine the colour and shape to use from my years of experience and extensive Phibrows training.

The ink used for regular body tattoos is formulated differently and goes much deeper than the pigments used for microblading.  With tattooing a needle is used to deposit ‘ink’ into the skin, however, the microblading process isn’t the same as getting a tattoo because the pigment is deposited only into the first layer of the skin.

As a result the longevity of the Phibrows pigment and its visibility will eventually fade away if you don’t continue with top ups every 12-18 months or so.

There is no scarring or discolouration with the pigments used, so you wouldn’t know, if you left them to fade out completely, after approximately 5 years.

The pigment is chosen on the day to match your natural eyebrow colour; at first the colour may seem too dark but after a week it starts to reduce and will lose 50-60 percent of its intensity. If you think the colour is to dark do not try to remove it yourself, please be patient and wait 7 to 10 days of the colour to fade on its own. Up until you come back to your top up you will lose 10 to 15 percent of the drawn strokes and in the second session these are re-done.
