Permanent Eyeliner: Everything You Need to Know
Permanent Eyeliner Aftercare is Actually Very Straight Forward!
The permanent eyeliner healing process is pretty much the easiest of all permanent makeup healing. As long as you have researched the right artist and are usually fit and healthy, you can expect quick and straightforward healing. Let’s take a look at how your permanent eyeliner will look whilst it heals and what the aftercare will entail…
What to Expect After Permanent Eyeliner:
Day 1: You’ll love your new eyeliner! Your eyeliner colour is approximately 30% darker than it will be when it’s healed. It will also appear slightly larger than it will heal in a few days. This is primarily due to a small amount of swelling and is a normal part of your healing process. You will have no trouble driving home and going about the rest of your day as usual and it’s unlikely that anyone will notice you’ve had anything done.
Days 2-3: Your colour will darken temporarily as the pigment starts to heal and thin scabs will form. You may wake up slightly swollen but you can remedy this by applying a cool compress. Your eyeliner might feel tight and dry but should not be painful.
Days 3-5: Your eyeliner will begin peeling until there is no dry skin left. You want to allow healing to shed naturally. Once all the peeling has finished, it is common for the colour to appear lighter than it will eventually heal. This lighter colour is only temporary as your freshly healed skin is hiding the true colour underneath. Over the next several weeks your eyeliner colour will slowly darken again.
Day 42: At 6 weeks your eyeliner is fully healed. Any adjustments such as darkening the colour or altering the shape can be done at your touch-up appointment.
Permanent Eyeliner Aftercare:
Wet healing is the best way to achieve your ideal Permanent Eyeliner results and is how most permanent eyeliner artists have their clients heal today. Your artist will have you clean your eyeliner regularly following your appointment. Depending on your healing experience, you’ll do this for 2 to 3 days as well as using an ointment regularly to keep your eyeliner from drying out.
PROS: You’ll have minimal scabbing,
and your colour will heal evenly.
CONS: You’ll have some work to do
and an aftercare kit to keep on you.
